I guess it took a while to get all of this mess on our blog, but the kitchen is finally complete minus a few small details and we are happy with it.
These are a couple of "BEFORE" pictures. It was small, outdated and we didn't have very much cabinet space. We also didn't have a dishwasher and our microwave was on a rolling cart.
This is looking into our kitchen from the dining room. We took out half of the wall on the right to open things up and moved the wall on the left back about a foot.
The first part of any project is demo. After Shannon worked her butt off for a few days getting all of the dishes and food and utensils boxed up and out of the kitchen, I started taking out the old brick tile walls.
Trying to clean as we work.
It was tough in spots as some of the bricks were glued to wall as well as mortared.
Ripping out the old cabinets was tough. We will refinish them and are saving them for a future project.
Once the bricks were down and out, we busted down the wall and started making paths for our new electric and water supply. HO-LEE-COW!!!
What a mess!!!
Autumn couldn't control herself and had to grab a broom.
We had to take out the large window in the kitchen, frame it back in, insulate it, close it back up.
We had to cut a sheet of plywood to fit the hole, and re-side over that. What a hassle!
Drywall is so much fun!
Dusty and messy.
Thank goodness for Shannon's brother Greg and our brother-in-law Rob for helping with everything in this project. We couldn't have done it without their help.
